Combat

1. Monster(s) have special abilities

Monsters and bosses have a special ability written under the lore box on their encounter card.

2. Monster(s) attack

The active player rolls the die. Consult the appropriate reference sheet to see what happens.

3. Heroes Respond

Beginning with the active player who drew the encounter card, and continuing clockwise around the table, each player may take an action. Including:

  • Play an Ability Card. You may play a single ability card (unless specifically marked otherwise) from your hand.
  • Use Your Unique Class Ability.
  • Use a treasure card. You may play a single scroll or potion from your hand.

If you have no applicable card or ability to use you may deal 1 point of damage. You may also choose to discard one of your ability cards so you can draw a new one (that hopefully is useful in combat) next round.

4. Draw Ability Cards

If you have fewer than five ability cards in your hand, draw from the abilities deck until you have five.

Combat continues until either the monster(s) are dead, the players have run away, or the entire game is lost if all the heroes are defeated (knocked out, petrified, or dead).

Note: If an enemy manages to defeat the active player's hero (knocked out, dead, or petrified) the enemy will stop attacking that hero and move onto the next player clockwise around the table becomes the new active player.
