Monster Encounters

Monster encounters are marked with an orange crossed-swords icon. These standard combat encounters feature a portrait, title, lore box, and a special ability. There is also a health value, an action bar, and a treasure value.

Read the card, including the special ability, and then roll the die.

Your roll determines what happens. The action bar shows all six sides of the dice and has a letter next to each side. Find the corresponding letter on the combat reference sheet to see what happens.

If the monster(s) survive the player's turns, the active player will roll every round on the monster's turn until the encounter is over.

The heart icon tells how many hit points the monster has. The different numbers scale the difficulty depending on how many players are playing the game. Use the top value for 2 players, the middle value for 3-4 players, and the bottom value for 5-6 players.

Set the combat health tracker to show the monster(s) beginning health. Combat continues with the monster taking another turn again until the monster's health drops to 0.

After the monster is defeated, the active player may draw treasure cards according to the number next to the chest icon in the bottom right of the encounter. In this example monster encounter, the player would draw 2 treasure cards once the monsters are defeated.
